The 38th Annual Conference of the European Association of Law and Economics (EALE) will be held online on September 9-10, 2021. It will be jointly organized by the Universitat Pompeu Fabra Law School and the Barcelona Graduate School of Economics.

Conference Venue and Details

The 2021 EALE Conference, on September 9-10, will be held online. The local organizing committee has worked very hard to maintain open the possibility of a regular face-to-face conference. Unfortunately, the health and safety constraints associated with the pandemic, the possibility of new outbreaks, and the uncertainty about international travel suggest that an online conference is the safest option at this point.

Although we were very much looking forward to welcoming you in Barcelona, we are planning to have an exciting virtual conference, both socially and professionally. To keep our activities as regular as possible, EALE business will go on in online form, including the Göran Skogh Prize and the General Assembly, at which we will hold elections for two EALE board members. A call for the assembly will follow.

Our keynote speakers will continue to be Cani Fernandez (President of the Spanish Competition Authority, CNMC) and Edward R. Morrison (Charles Evans Gerber Professor of Law, Columbia Law School).

However, the award ceremony to honor the 2020 lifetime-achievement EALE award’s recipient, Ariel Porat (President of Tel Aviv University), has been postponed to 2022, when we can all meet again face to face.

For instructions about how to participate/register, please read the Registration website on eale.org.
